Introduction

IT Professionals Group (ITPG) is a company focused on enhancing the IT systems of New Zealand enterprises.

With over 20 years of experience on tap, we create systems and solutions for companies who want to concentrate on their core business, leaving the IT planning and execution to us.

Our aim is to provide high quality IT solutions whilst remaining within customer required timeframes and budgets.

This document details the current service offerings from IT Professionals Group.

IT Consultancy

Server Consolidation and Migration

Virtualisation offers consolidation on licensing and server hardware resulting in reduced operational costs and increased redundancy. ITPG specialises in the VMware product offerings and are fully qualified to carry out Virtualisation scenarios to best suit your business requirements and show you where you can save running costs and offer more stability to your environment.

ITPG has many years experience in designing and building VMware solutions from SMB to large enterprise environments. We can offer basic consolidation estimates at minimal cost to demonstrate real savings making for a compelling business case.

Citrix & Thin Client application delivery

The effective deployment of applications and infrastructure into an enterprise requires the creation of customised, fully managed environments specific to each customer needs. ITPG brings unique skills in this area with a specific focus on controlling ongoing operational expenditure whilst ensuring a stable, agile environment is available to end users.

Networks

ITPG consultants bring many years of experience with the various network topologies and architectures available within New Zealand . We have in depth experience managing vendors and designing and deploying WAN, LAN, WLAN, VoIP and network security solutions.

Core IT Infrastructure

ITPG have extensive experience in the core Microsoft Active Directory and Server space. We have specialist messaging and database consultants who can assist with any aspect of the design, operation or trouble shooting of this mission critical infrastructure.

Teradata

Given the pivotal nature of Teradata systems to any enterprise, it is important that they are implemented and operated in the most efficient fashion. ITPG has first hand experience with the Teradata product including optimisation and tuning to improve performance whilst rationalising capital expenditure.

Point of Sale systems

Our experience with POS systems includes in depth understanding of the specific requirements and limitations within the retail environment. We have undertaken projects for customers including equipment selection (a comparison of the systems available in the market today) and system roll outs.

Disaster Recovery Planning

Although ITPG recommends that DR be an integral part of every project right from the point of system selection, some customers prefer to treat it separately. We have completed a number of engagements for customers in this area including planning of additional data processing sites and the associated communications systems.

Infrastructure Strategic Planning

ITPG have assisted a number of customers to create strategic plans for this IT infrastructure. In some cases this has been followed with the opportunity to help the customer to enact the plan, adjusting it as required as time passes.

Business analysis

In the fast paced world of business today, the need to have a “sounding board” to qualify potential projects is of utmost importance. ITPG are regularly called upon to provide business analysis skills for customer projects with the specific intent of ensuring they are consistent with current best practice, and any relevant strategic plans. In many cases this leads on to system designs and in some cases projects to deploy the solution.

Systems administration

ITPG have consultants specialising in the day to day management of complex IT infrastructure. Whether you require short term support while someone is away or a longer term solution to a management problem, we can help.

Security Review

We have experienced consultants who are available to review and validate existing or proposed security systems.

Backup & Recovery (BAR)

ITPG have been implementing and managing backup systems for the last 20 years. Our experience includes all current solutions including IBM TSM, Veritas, NetVault etc.

Staff Management

Sometimes events conspire to cause staffing difficulties. ITPG has been able to assist customers recently by providing consultants to manage departments including Service Delivery, Infrastructure, Network & Operations. These engagements have generally been short term and have typically been undertaken in conjunction with other work.

Strategic planning advice.

ITPG has been engaged at various points in the project governance process to provide technical designs prior to commencement to ensure all parties have a common understanding of what will be delivered & how. We have also assisted with project management and technical deployment of projects.

Recent Projects

• Relocation of an IBM Mainframe from NZ to Australia
• Consolidation of two organisations to a single infrastructure including Microsoft AD, Email, WAN, Citrix
• Creation of Change Control processes
• Brand conversions & decommissioning in the retail space. Typically required significant IT infrastructure changes as in-store systems were completely different
• EFTPOS vendor change
• Online shopping infrastructure refresh
• Teradata deployment and fine tuning. The initial systems design was less than optimal and required ITPG's assistance to improve its data loading & processing speed. For a modest investment the time taken for the loading of the main table reduced from 3 hours to 30 minutes!
• Adoption of VoIP (Cisco AVVID) and subsequent deployment to head office and remote locations
• Deployment of an IBM “Shark” SAN
• Migration of the core server platform onto IBM “Blades” that boot from SAN
• WAN update to the Telecom “One Office” solution
• Trouble-shooting of custom developed web applications
